The Oslob local government unit and the Municipal Police Station, represented by Mayor Ronald L. Guaren and Oslob Police Chief PCPT Ian T. Macatangay, respectively, joined other units in the first and second districts of Cebu province in the Seminar-Workshop on the CSOPS Framework, Triumvirate and its Impact to the Peace and Order Situation in the localities.
The other members of the team were PCR Rosemarie B Cabahit, Hon. Ramir Seven (representing the Oslob ABC Federation) and Roger Serna (representing the Municipal Advisory Council).
The event was held at the South Town Centre in Talisay City last Feb. 28, 2023. Retired PNP officer Pat Comendador delivered the opening message in behalf of Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony V. Gullas Jr.
The Community and Service-Oriented Policing System (CSOPS) is a strategy of policing that focuses on police building ties and working closely with members of the community. It refers to the promotion of peace and order and public safety and the strengthening of local government capability aimed towards the effective delivery of basic services to the citizenry.
It is carried out by a triumvirate composed of the Mayor, the police and the community. The legal basis of the CSOPS is Republic Act No. 8551.
The speakers in the seminar were Atty. Risty N. Sibay, OIC, Office of the Assistant Regional Director, who delivered the rationale; PLtCol Judy Mar F Bonilla,
Chief, PIDMU (overview of the Crime Situation); Atty. Ronald A. Luib Jr. (LCE Powers, Functions and Deputation); and, Atty. Lecel R. Llamedo (CSOP System Orientation and POPS Planning).
Atty. Giovanni J. Bravo facilitated the CSOP and Crime Assessment Workshop. The Oslob team presented an action plan that includes close coordination with the Dept. of Public Works & Highways and will involve barangay folks and other force multipliers to minimize road accidents in the LGU.
